Job Summary

This internship is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and sustainability-minded individual to gain valuable experience in communications for a mission-driven organisation. You will play a key role in managing our social media presence, crafting blog content, and contributing to our monthly newsletter.

As a Communications Intern, you will provide close support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and to the senior leadership team in all of their administrative and organisational needs, ensuring all logistics run smoothly for this department. By applying impeccable judgement along with unshakeable discretion and maturity, you will quickly become an invaluable support and will take a lot of satisfaction in running a tight ship.

You are comfortable working with internal and external contacts and you are familiar with dealing with a wide range of highly sensitive issues under tight deadlines/pressures. You will maintain a high standard of professionalism, efficiency, personal communication, discretion and independent judgement with a strong passion to make a real difference in the fight against climate change, the below position may be right for you!


Main tasks & responsibilities

 

Social Media Management:
  • Develop and implement a content calendar for LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Create engaging content (text, visuals) that raises awareness about conservation finance and our work.
  • Manage daily social media engagement, including responding to comments and messages.
  • Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities to expand our reach.
Content Creation:
  • Research and write weekly blog posts on relevant topics in conservation finance.
  • Assist in the development and editing of our monthly newsletter content.
Communication & Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the team to understand project updates and key messages.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry news and research.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions for new content ideas.
  • Supporting with calendar management and travel arrangements, including but not limited to booking travel and hotels, handling all paperwork related to passports and business visas as needed.
  • Drafting correspondence, documents, reports, presentations, etc. where needed.
  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders
    Identify and organise speaking events, conferences and internal gatherings
  • Handle confidential documents and obtain contract approvals and signatures
  • Assist with year-end financial reporting requirements with all relevant stakeholders such as the company secretary and SSM
  • Any additional tasks in support of the senior leadership team, as may be required

Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong interest in conservation and sustainability issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High understanding of frequently used computer software and programs such as Google Suite.
  • Experience with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter).
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and comfortable using Mac computers.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills with a focus on stakeholder management.

 

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) a plus (HubSpot experience preferred).
  • Experience with content creation tools (Canva, Hootsuite).
  • Knowledge of conservation finance concepts.
  • Passion for environmental issues and understanding of sustainability, CSR and related topics.
  • Experience in a fast-changing growth environment.
  • National, or holder of a valid work visa in Malaysia.
